At Brics, India must bank on the new development Bank (NDB)

For India, the NDB offers an important avenue to expand development financing, promote local-currency funding and mobilise private capital for infrastructure and sustainable projects. With 32 projects and about $9.53 billion in approved financing for India as of December 2025, the bank already has a significant Indian footprint.

The challenge now is to translate this institutional potential into greater financing, stronger project implementation and wider cooperation across the Global South, while strengthening the NDB as a credible multilateral development institution.
